Art Connections owner, Sherry Masters, has scheduled a new tour called Glass +1 designed to give participants a special art opportunity. This 2.5 hour tour will allow participants to visit the studio of a local glass professional working in one of the following: hot glass, cast and sculpted glass, or laminated and polished glass methods. Participants will see how artworks are made and have a dialogue with the artist to more thoroughly understand the processes
The Glass +1 tour is offered on select Wednesday and Friday mornings, each month from April through October; and will always include one glass studio and one studio in another art medium. Think glass + ceramic, glass + fiber, or glass + painting. The aim is to feature local glass artists as well as introduce tour goers to the greater arts scene in Asheville.
Glass artists on the roster include Alex Bernstein, Carl Powell, Brad Smith, Robert Stephan and Hayden Wilson. The ‘+1 artists’ are professionals in other mediums who regularly work with Art Connections including: ChadAlice Hagen, Leonid Siveriver, Amy Medford, Tom Reardon, Kathleen Doyle, Janice Schmidt and many more. The artists visited on any given tour is predetermined by Masters and dependent upon the artists’ availability.
For glass art enthusiasts that would enjoy visiting more glass artists in the region a customized half day or full day tour is encouraged!
